Our Story

Oakey Cherrypickers is part of Oakey Electrical, a family-run business with many years of experience working at height.

Before starting the business, I worked in the street lighting industry, where having the right access equipment was essential. That experience led us to invest in our own cherry picker and start offering high-access services to customers across the area.

One of our first major contracts was installing Christmas lights for town councils back in 2006. Since then, we've continued to carry out Christmas light installations every year, with one town trusting us to install their displays for the past 20 years. We're proud of those long-standing relationships and believe they say more about our business than any sales pitch ever could.

Over the years, our work has grown far beyond Christmas lights. Today we provide safe, reliable access for all kinds of jobs, including Town Centre CCTV installations, electrical work, building inspections, roof surveys, lighting maintenance, sign installation, bird spike fitting and even the occasional drone rescue from the top of a tree. Every job is different, and that's one of the things we enjoy most.

We offer two ways of working. If you need a job completing, we're happy to provide a quotation and carry out the work where it falls within our expertise. Alternatively, if you're a tradesperson or business that simply needs safe access at height, we can supply the cherry picker with a trained and experienced operator while you carry out the work yourself.

Unlike self-drive hire, our cherry picker is always supplied with an operator. While hiring a machine on its own may appear to be the cheaper option, experience often means the work is completed more quickly, more safely and with far less hassle. You don't need to worry about learning how to operate the equipment or transporting it—we take care of that, allowing you to focus on the job in hand.

We're practical, easy to deal with and believe in doing what we say we'll do. We know that every job is important, whether it's a planned commercial project or a last-minute request for help. If there's a safe way to get the job done, we'll always do our best to make it happen.
